MEMOTEXT Pitches PAAS2015

Posted on July 6, 2015 by Noah Nemoy Last week, MEMOTEXT Founder and President Amos Adler was invited to both attend and present at the 14th Annual Patient Adherence & Access Summit, or PAAS2015 in Philadelphia. While there MEMOTEXT had the opportunity to share in the discussion of the latest issues regarding patient adherence and access, to medication.   Day 1 largely consisted of industry panels. Improve Patient Outcomes, Share Accountability and Reduce Cost was moderated by Susan Stinson, Senior Vice President Operations of Lash Group and its panellists included Nichole Jeanpierre-Platt of Janssen, Thomas K. Bauer of Novant Health, and Joshua Fredell of CVS Health. Representing the perspectives of manufacturers, health systems and pharmacies, it was an engaging discussion on how improved patient adherence leads to better health outcomes, increased pharma revenues, and overall lower healthcare costs. Another engaging panel was Patient Initiated Campaigns — Strategies to Increase Support and Engagement. Moderated by Donna M. Trane, the Vice President of Business Development for UBC, panellists included Katherine K. Leon of the Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection Alliance, Kimmia Forouzesh of Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research and Alisa M. Hughley of enBloom Media LLC. Ranging from digital health to non-profit advocacy, these diverse speakers discussed the importance of achieving and sustaining patient engagement in order to increase patient adherence.   PAAS2015 also featured several industry case studies. Dyan Bryson of Retrophin presented: Lessons from IBM — Putting the Needs of the Customer at the Center of the Business. She argued that most pharma today is where computer companies were in the 80s, aware of the need for change but resistant to it. Citing IBM’s success Dyan advocated the need to embrace innovation and disruptive technologies and put the costumer at the forefront of their business model.   Day 2 MEMOTEXT jumped into the Innovation Pavilion’s SharkTank. One of four patient adherence related start-ups competing, MEMOTEXT faced off against C3i, N2 Medical Solutions, and Circle Link. For 20 minutes Amos pitched and demoed MEMOTEXT’s validated digital patient adherence programs to judges and other panel attendees. It was an honor to be presenting MEMOTEXT’s solution to such a large and diverse group of stakeholders including Robert Nauman of BioPharma Advisors, Vera Rulon of Pfizer Inc, Sara Culver of Eisai Inc and Mary Camp of Louis W. Sullivan Institute for Healthcare Innovation. Everyone was a winner at the SharkTank and all attendees benefited from seeing the latest in disruptive innovation in the field of patient adherence.   As a whole PAAS2015 was an enlightening conference. MEMOTEXT is looking forward to attending next year to see the latest issues and advancements in the area of patient adherence.   NOAH NEMOY M.Sc.
